In the hero’s journey, all ground is sacred ground

And everything is part of the journey. Including the refusal to be on the journey, including the helpers who look like adversaries and the demons disquised as lovers.

Lest you think you’re off the path, I urge you to look down and see it.

You are on the path. You are the hero of this story.

At the many junctures where you’ve leapt into the unknown, there have been helpers who emerged from the dim surroundings that have helped you.

“The Universe sends support equal to the challenges it gives you.”

Any blade of grass, the one at your feet, the circumstance and situation you wish would go away, anything in your path can conduct you to the most sacred places within, if you have the eyes and heart to see it, and the will to go.

  1. Hi Phyllis! You tricked me. I expected to see Walt Whitman as the author of that quote. Truly the ordinary can become extraordinary because, well, all creation including ourselves (we forget that part all too often) is extraordinary.

    1. Hi Tom! Perhaps if I had included the entire quote: “Any blade of grass, may assume, in myth, the figure of the Savior and conduct the questing wanderer into the sanctum sanctorum of his own heart.” I am currently grooving on Joseph Campbell’s Hero With a Thousand Faces. What are you reading these days?
