These are fun done in pairs, five minutes each, with or without a quick rest break between:

  • I know, I don’t know
  • I see, I don’t see
  • I remember, I don’t remember
  • I can, I can’t
  • I need, I don’t need
  • I have, I don’t have

You get the idea.

Here are some other evocative writing prompts:

  • Listening deeply…
  • That place…
  • Lately…
  • If you really want to know…
  • What I really mean to say is…
  • Do this for me…
  • Look…
  • I suspect…
  • My body knows….
  • I recognize…
  • Blue is the new…
  • I’d like a new…
  • You don’t seem to realize…
  • To look at me you’d never know…
  • I’m avoiding…
  • I can’t avoid…

Check back for more writing prompts, but these should take you a long way. By the way, I use these over and over again. It’s also great to begin keeping your own list of writing prompts. You can take them from your own writing. That’s a great way of deepening something you’ve already written.
