Put Your Business – and Your Heart – First

Are you a heart-business owner? A business owner of heart? Or just a person with a passion, struggling to make it “come off the page?” If so, this message is for you.

The following is an excerpt from an email I sent out to my current guided mastermind group as a follow-up to our in-person meeting yesterday. It sums up perfectly the interplay between self-esteem, daily nurturing practice, and taking right actions to move ourselves and our passions forward.

“In the past month, I’ve fallen off one of my own “rules” that I put in place long ago, something I now realize is also an action that alleviates poor self-esteem: Putting my business first, by prioritizing at least one business-related task to do first thing in the day. This sets up a powerful vibration for the rest of the day, the week, and most importantly, the heart.

So I urge you to look at this: What one thing could you put very first in your day that is for you, for your business, and for your heart? You all shared that your big why is about a passion that you have. Passion is of the heart. When you want to attract clients, you want, essentially, for them to put their hearts, souls and health first, to prioritize and value that by spending money on themselves to receive and benefit from your service or product. You can start that vibration and model that in your own life by putting your passion first.

When I first started the guided mastermind idea percolating in my own heart, I wanted to demonstrate the value of putting into place processes and activities that nurture us in business on a regular basis, so that we have a handle on our own “stuff” so our stuff doesn’t start to run the business. Giving yourself some type of quiet reflection time and a way of listening to yourself is the best way I know to do that. For me it’s daily writing. For you, it might be a walk, meditation, drawing, or yoga.

So those are my two follow-up ideas: Put your business first in your day, and give yourself a daily method of checking in with yourself so that you can express your fears, doubts, expectations and disappointments appropriately, be heard and take right action in your business.”

I hope you take this in if you’ve been struggling with this (as I have), and find something here of value. I’m a big fan of keeping things simple, so think about ONE action you can take first thing each day for your business, out of your passion, that tells the Universe,

“I’m here, I mean it, and I’m willing to transcend my comfort zone of mediocrity to bring my passion into the world.”

Because, loves, the world needs it. Not this afternoon, not tomorrow. Now.

Until next time, treat yourself (and your passion) with reverence, you are a wonderful mystery!
